Apollon – Basel, Europa League Prediction

Apollon and Basel made a spectacular 3-2 in favor of the Swiss in the first match after many chances and dynamic football. Basel’s task now seems more difficult, despite the advantage of the goal in the first goal. Still, two away goals for Apollon is not something to underestimate.
Apollon prove with every passing match that they are capable of scoring goals against every team and this is especially true for their matches at home. Apollon match from the local championship, as well as APOEL and AEK games, has been postponed so these teams still haven’t played a game this season in their 1st division in order to prepare well for their crucial matches against their opponents in Europa League. In the first match, Apollon managed to make a comeback vs. Basel, but then the swiss made a comeback themselves. However, Apollon rely on the form at home by recording 14 home games in which they scored 44 goals, at least 2 goals in each match. This is also true for their LE games where Dinamo Brest (4-0) and Zeljeznicar (3-1) were defeated. Apollon entered last year in the Europa League, where they did not record a single win and now they will try to have the chance to fix this bad statistics in the new season.
Basel made 1-1 with Zurich in his last round in the swiss super league. Apart from their strange two matches with Vitesse, in which they won twice by 1-0, Basel plays very open football and there are a lot of goals in their games. After the unfortunate loss of PAOK in the Champions League, however, Basel made a series of six consecutive wins before breaking it this weekend. Basel has not participated in the Europa League since 2016 when they reached the elimination phase, eliminated by the future champion, Sevilla. Basel have failed to score in just two of their last 31 games.
Apollon will look for the victory to qualify. Basel will have difficulties with holding the Cypriot attack, but should try to take advantage of any mistakes by the hosts. Both teams showed in the last match that they can create a goal show and there is no reason not to expect the same from them in Cyprus. Our prediction is over 2.5 goals at 1.84
The home side should have no fresh injury worries for this one.
Goalkeeper Jonas Omlin (4/0) is injured. As well as central defender Marek Suchy (4/0) and offensive midfielder Valentin Stocker (3/0). Central back Eder Balanta (1/0) and offensive player Kevin Bua (3/0) shouldn’t be ready for the game either.
