FC Copenhagen – CSKA-Sofia, Europa League Prediction

Copenhagen managed to beat CSKA in the first game with 2-1. CSKA started the game very well and took the lead early. But the Danes did not startle and were controlling the tempo of the game without creating particularly serious goalscoring chances. Then, at the end of the first half came the red card of Chorbadzhiyski, which was big advantage for the guests. In the second half, Copenhagen made a comeback first after a wonderful strike by Vavro from a distance and then they received a penalty. Overall, Copenhagen played quite cleverly and calmly and took the victory without much strain. CSKA is a strong team, but is nowhere near the Copenhagen team quality.

Danes are in great shape. They are in a series of 7 consecutive wins having conceded just 2 goals – 1 in each of their last 2 games. The last one was against their local rivals, Brondby, which were defeated at the weekend by 3-1, giving the whites a serious claim that this season we are going to see them again at this level as it’s expected. Copenhagen are scoring pretty easy after they replaced their strikers with the new ones – N’Doye and Kodro, who scored  a lot lately. Copenhagen have scored 12 goals in their last 3 home games, while CSKA will miss their central defender, Chorbadzhiyski, who is suspended because of the last match.

CSKA defeated Slavia Sofia in their last game from the local championship by 2-1. They are in good shape overall and have only lost 2 of their last 19 games. These two losses are against Copenhagen and Riga in the previous round by 1-0. In Europa League, however, CSKA conceded a goal in both away games against Riga and Admira. This is notable, because these teams are much weaker than Copenhagen. Bulgarians know that they missed their chance in the first game and now they can hardly hope for something serious against the Danes in the rematch. They have a serious chance for the title this season in the local championship, because of the weak form of Ludogorets and will focus their attention mainly there.
