Leicester – Liverpool, Premier League Prediction
Leicester made a very impressive comeback in the last round against Southampton. The Saints led by 1-0 in the second half, but Leicester leveled a few minutes later. Then Hojbjerg got a red card and foxes took advantage of this at the end of the game to reach the 1-2 win. This happened without the striker Vardy who got a red card against Wolves and now is missing three games for Leicester. The foxes smashed Fleetwood in the League Cup during the week by 4-0 and now Vardy will miss the last match for them against Liverpool. The important thing about Leicester is that they play very strong and have been impressive since the start of the season. Claude Puel’s guys lost to Manchester United in the first round, but were dominating at many moments in the game, even at Old Trafford. Pereira, Maddison, and Iheanacho will be very important in this match for Leicester. They are expected to cause difficulties to Liverpool’s stable defense.
The Reds also defeated Brighton 1-0, which means they are already in a series of seven consecutive wins. They have only conceded 1 goal in their last 5 games. Liverpool’s performance, however, is not as impressive and glamorous as it has been during most of the past season. Against Palace this was normal, because the eagles are very difficult to beat this season and play good. But against Brighton Liverpool they could even make a draw, which would be a serious blow for them. Liverpool, however, is yet to get into shape. At this point, the Merseyside midfield situation is very interesting, where Fabinho is still waiting for his debut. The performance of Wijnaldum and Milner, however, prevents this from happening soon. The two are fairly stable in this area for now. Wijnaldum’s role is clearly a very strong move for Klopp, because he’s not a typical 6. He’s more 10 or 8, he even came as a playmaker from Newcastle, but now he shows that he can play excellent everywhere in the midfield.
From a psychological point of view, Liverpool must win in order to gain self-confidence and try to take a lead over Man City. If they start getting behind the citizens, it may be bad for them. In addition, there is an international break before which they will want to get a full set of points. Leicester, however, will be a new tough rival for them. Teams like the foxes, as well as Crystal Palace, will surely be causing difficulties for big teams this season. Leicester have scored at least 2 goals in their last 4 home games vs. Liverpool and generally missed to score against the reds in just one match in the last 10 at King Power. Our main prediction for this match is “BTTS” at 1.85. If you are looking for a higher odds, we can offer you 2 similar options.
