Everton – Southampton, Premier League Prediction
Everton were very good against one of the top 10 favorites and the team who spent a huge amount of money this summer – Wolverhampton. Everton even played with 10 men after Jagiellka’s red card in the first half. They conceded a goal immediately after, but managed to lead again and finally the game ended 2-2. Their new star is Richarlison. The young Brazilian has hit the two goals for The Toffees, but has a minor injury and is not sure whether he will take part in this match. Still, they have also spent huge sums on players and have already gathered a very strong team, even too big and it will not be surprising to have 2-3 sales by the end of the month. Everton have serious ambitions and after finally pulling their man, Marco Silva, they will try to hit the top positions this season. Their goal is at least the top 7. In friendly matches this the summer, however, Everton recorded only one win as their last games were losses, but they were quite high goal scoring.
Southampton nearly got relegated last season and now Saints will strive not to get too close to the danger zone. They did not make any big transfers this summer, but they did get a bit stronger. The most important departures are Classie and Boufal, who are on loan this season and Tadic moved to Ajax for 11 million. But they got Danny Ings from Liverpool to reinforce the attack, as well as the winger of Basel, Elyounoussi. Midfielder Armstrong and Man City’s young goalkeeper, Gunn, were also bought and their most expensive purchase is called Vestergaard, who is a defender of Gladbach. Southampton made 0-0 in the first game of the season against Burnley as they missed a bunch of chances.
Southampton have a lot of trouble when they are at this stadium. Their last victory was in 1997. After that Everton have 9 wins and 4 games ended up as a draw at Goodison. Meanwhile, Southampton have only one victory as a guest from their 32th matches played in August in the history of the Premier League. Certainly Toffees have a better chance and are likely to record many wins against weaker teams when they play at Goodison. And the Saints are not yet near Everton quality. Our prediction is a win for the hosts at 2.00. Another bet that you can try for this match is “over 2.5 cards” at 1.60
Mina and Gomes are not ready to start. McCarthy is injured. Jagielka is suspended. Richarlison probably won’t start
Yoshida and Armstrong are under serious question
